Come and join us for a four week introductory Felting course where you will gain the knowledge and experience you need to create beautiful works! No previous felting experience necessary!
The course covers all the basics of Wet and Needle Felting. Wet Felting is a very ancient craft predating most others and has been used to produce artistic items both decorative and functional throughout history. Yurts of Mongolia, gloves of Pompeii, and the bowlers and top hats of the industrial revolution were all created using various wet felting techniques. Needle Felting is a much newer craft that is becoming ever more popular among those that like to sculpt finely detailed fluffy things.
Cost for the 4-week course is £50. Materials and light refreshment included. Places are very limited, so early booking is essential. Contact us for booking forms on:
Or just drop in at the Yeast Scrapstore premises to see us.
A limited number of subsidised places may be available, please contact us to discuss.
If you’re looking for a fun activity for you and the kids over half term, then our popular Stay & Makes are the perfect way to spend the afternoon.
All sessions are by donation, run from 2-4pm and you are required to stay with your children for that time.
Each day has a different theme with pre designed makes for you to follow (although we won’t stop you doing your own thing).

It is a long time since I have actually got around to posting on the blog of our scrapstore page but I want the world to know how excited I am about this. We have been exploring a working partnership with a local charity called Orchard Vale Trust who work locally with people with learning disabilities. From the end of February they will be coming to YEAST Scrapstore every Friday and every other Wednesday not just to make things but to help with the day to day running of the scrapstore. We are so excited to be welcoming the staff and clients of Orchard Vale Trust and look forward to seeing where this partnership may lead in the future. We are gearing up to start the building work! It is two years since Diana began talking with Laura at GEMS scrapstore in Wells about whether it was possible to bring a scrapstore back to Glastonbury. Many people will know that at one point it was hoped we would move into the Red Brick Building BUT just like the best laid plans of mice and men (and women) things have taken a different direction.
We have an amazing space at Dyehouse Lane, a 2000 sq ft warehouse with a 700 sq ft Mezzanine. This allows us to have a HUGE amount of storage for the many and varied types of scrap that you would expect.
BUT there is more! With some additional fund raising, a wing and a lot of prayer we are building a large activity pod which will give us a completely self contained activity space available to run workshops, activity days, holiday clubs etc etc etc. When it isn’t being used it will also be available for hire. To make the exercise worthwhile we thought we might as well heat the pod, put in some really decent toilet facilities and washing up area for all those messy craft activities.
On Saturday 5th July we are going to be holding a big launch extravaganza day where we can show off our new space to everyone. We do hope you are as excited about this new community scrapstore as we are and we look forward to welcoming lots and lots of new members and visitors in the coming months and years.
